The St. Croix Valley Lumberjacks team is entirely run by volunteers. Thank all of our 80+ volunteers and coaches!
Celebrating 20 years of the Lumberjacks!
The St. Croix Valley Lumberjacks was formed in Jan. 2000 under the leadership of Special Olympics MN staff for new teams. Karen Crotty took over the team as Head of Delegation (HOD)in 2002 and remained the teams manager until 11/2013. Hannah Olson(now Hoffstatter) was interim HOD until 8/2014 during this time a Local Sports Management Team (LSMT)group was formed and the team continues to be led by a LSMT. Jennifer Harms took over as HOD 8/2014 – present.
The team began in 2000 with 15 Athletes and 8 Coaches. In 2022, we have 17 Athletes, 85 Coaches (including 8 original athletes and 3 original coaches!) and 38 Unified Partners.
In 2000, the team began with Track and Field – April 2000, Bowling, September 2000, Basketball – February 2001, Swimming - March 2001, Skiing/Snowboarding Dec. 2002, Golf June 2005, Flag Football August 2011, Bocce, June 2014, Poly Hockey 2021.
